In football, a red card means exactly one thing: the player is going home. For Etagi, Russia’s leading real estate platform that helps people find homes every day, that connection was too good to ignore. Soda creative agency identified it, and turned an object that had never functioned as an advertising medium into one of the most contextually precise sponsorships in recent Russian sports marketing.
The Idea

Etagi partnered with the WINLINE Media League, one of Russia’s prominent football competitions, to place the Etagi logo and the line “Go Home!” on the red cards used by the match referees. The placement required no creative manufacturing. The connection between a red card, which sends a player home, and a company whose entire commercial purpose is finding people homes, was already there. The campaign’s job was simply to name it.
The critical distinction between the Etagi red card placement and a standard sports sponsorship is the moment of appearance. A perimeter board advertisement appears during every second of a broadcast, which means it appears during no second in particular. The red card appears at the game’s single most emotional, most talked-about, most replayed moment: the sending-off. The player is dismissed. The referee reaches for the card. The card carries the Etagi logo. The brand appears not in the background but at the centre of the action, at the exact moment when every camera in the stadium and every eye in the crowd is focused on that specific object.
What It Generated
Every sending-off during the WINLINE Media League season became a new appearance for the campaign, and crucially, each one lived on long after the final whistle. Football sending-offs generate their own media cycle: replays, commentary, highlights packages, Telegram channel discussions, fan debate, and social media posts. Each time footage of a red card moment was replayed or shared, the Etagi brand was replayed and shared with it, without any additional media spend required.
The campaign generated more than 6 million views and dozens of earned media mentions across news outlets and Telegram channels, alongside over 5,000 user reactions and comments. For a real estate brand operating in a competitive market where differentiation in advertising is difficult, those numbers reflect a campaign that converted a single sponsorship object into a sustained media presence across an entire football season.
The Creative Logic
The red card is one of the most recognisable objects in global sport. Its meaning is universal to anyone who follows football regardless of language or country. By adding “Go Home!” to that object, Etagi converted the referee’s disciplinary action into a product statement with zero additional explanation required. The player goes home. Etagi finds homes. The brand message is contained entirely in the object being held up.
Soda’s creative direction, led by Dmitry Pint and Dmitry Novikov with a full creative and production team, turned a football rule into an advertising medium that had never previously been used. The red card has existed in football since 1970. It took until 2026 for someone to notice it was also an advertisement for a real estate company.
